The Gig
You’ll love welcoming customers at DCANTER with a friendly smile and helping them find delicious wines for the occasion--whether they’re celebrating something special or simply wanting to relax and enjoy wine at home. You’ll process sales transactions with attention to detail and ensure that inventory is properly received, stocked, and accurately accounted for. You’ll help guide customers’ experience with DCANTER’s selections and services with enthusiasm and in an approachable manner. You’ll assist with wine tastings and special events and have a deep curiosity and thirst to expand your own wine knowledge. This is a great opportunity for someone who has had a little exposure to the wine industry and is seeking to take the leap and establish a career with a growing company.
What You’ll Do
- Assist customers with fine wine selections with knowledge and enthusiasm
- Process sales transactions using point of sale software and e-commerce system with great attention to detail
- Keep displays consistently stocked with inventory and properly account for inventory, including when receiving inventory deliveries
- Research and write tasting notes for wine products
- Maintain product selections on DCANTER’s website and point of sale
- Pour tastings of wine and provide customer education on products at in-store and offsite events
- Support Concierge by DCANTER as needed with order preparation and fulfillment
- Run deliveries as needed and effectively follow delivery processes
- Assist with store cleaning and maintain the orderly appearance of the store
- Properly conduct opening and closing procedures when on the schedule to do so
- Obtain an ABC Manager’s license when requested
- Work productively within a team
- Must have the ability to work evenings and both weekend days

Knowledge and Skills
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred
- Certification from Wine & Spirits Education Trust, Society of Wine Educators, or sommelier training preferred
- 2 years of retail experience preferred

The Gig
The delivery associate is a critical member of the DCanter team. You'll delight our customers by delivering delicious wines straight to their door -- efficiently, safely, and with a smile. For many of our customers who haven't stepped foot in the shop, you're the face representing DCanter. Contact-less deliveries take place on weekday afternoons (2:00-5:00 PM) weeknight evenings (6:00-9:00 PM), and Saturday mornings (9:00 AM - 12:00 PM). The pay is $18/hour plus mileage reimbursement, and you may also receive tips that go directly to you via Venmo. Your schedule will be very consistent each week. We prefer applicants who have their own vehicles. In between delivery routes, you may assist with receiving inventory and restocking shelves with all the wine goodies. If you love interacting with people, enjoy driving and learning about the city, don't mind sitting in traffic every now and then, and want to learn more about wine, this job is for you!
